For nearly 170 years, Dewar’s has been recognized as a leading name in blended whisky. The Dewar’s Legacy Collection 1893 Edition is the inaugural release in a series of three remarkable whiskies. Only 1,000 bottles of each edition will be produced, with initial availability limited to travel retail before becoming accessible through domestic outlets. This first release in the Legacy Collection commemorates the year 1893, when John Dewar & Sons received its first Royal Warrant from Queen Victoria—a distinguished honor that acknowledges a product’s exceptional quality and suitability for royalty. The 1893 Edition is a masterful blend crafted from 20 carefully selected malt and grain whiskies, sourced from rare and well-aged casks at the Aberfeldy and Royal Brackla distilleries. This blend is double-aged, with the whisky spending an additional year in cask to further develop its character, resulting in a harmonious and exceptionally smooth profile. To complete the blend, a portion of the oldest and most prized Royal Brackla single malt is added, elevating the 1893 Edition to a new level of luxury. Presented in an elegant, hand-blown crystal decanter, the bottle is adorned with intricate silverwork featuring 22-carat gold accents. The design draws inspiration from the Scottish ceremonial dirk, with decorative details that reflect the artistry of the period. At the center of the traditional thistle motif are nine sapphires, a nod to the legendary Stuart Sapphire—a historic gem once owned by royalty and now set in Queen Victoria’s State Crown.
