The world’s oldest Brora has fetched US$18 900 at Bonhaus auction in Hong Kong on 19 May 2017.
An unnamed bidder paid almost double the expected price for what has been described by Dr Nick Morgan, Head of Whisky Outreach at Diageo, as “…the epitome of rare and collectible whiskies”.
This exceptionally rare bottle was distilled in 1972 and spent 44 years in ex-Sherry butt and is the only bottle drawn from the cask.
With whisky being seen as a worthwhile investment, whisky auctions are consistently performing well.
