Plans to Expand Benromach Distillery Unveiled

Benromach, owned by Gordon and MacPhail, has unveiled expansion plans to meet the growing demands for their single malt. The distillery has a 7 figure budget to increase warehousing space to lay down its spirit for future whisky.

Managing Director Michael Urquhart said, “This investment comes on the back of 40% growth in worldwide sales in 2012 and continued strong growth in 2013, coupled with our on-going projections. It’s been a huge success and we know we will need to increase production if we are to meet demand in the future."

The distillery's flag ship is the Benromach 10 Year Old but is popular for producing the world's first fully organic whisky, Benromach Organic.

Benromach distillery was established in 1898. It was later purchased by independent bottlers, Gordon & MacPhail in 1993.The distillery joins a number of distilleries such as Bunnahabhain, Macallan and Diageo’s Port Ellen and Brora that will see re-opening and expansion.
