Christmas Cocktails to Impress

Tis the season to be jolly and the season to impress your family and friends. If you're hosting a festive soirée or simply entertaining loved ones during Christmas, dazzle them with these cocktails.

Whisky Egg Nog

  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon, plus more for garnish
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/3 cup bourbon
  • Whipped cream, for serving

How to Make One

  1. Combine milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla in a small saucepan over low heat. Slowly bring mixture to a low boil.
  2. Meanwhile, in a large bowl, whisk egg yolks with sugar until yolks are pale in color. Slowly add hot milk mixture to egg yolks in batches to temper the eggs and whisk until combined.
  3. Return mixture to saucepan and cook over medium heat until slightly thick (and coats the back of a spoon) but does not boil.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in heavy cream and, if using, booze.
  5. Refrigerate until chilled.

Jeanine's Blood Orange & Bourbon

  • ½ cup freshly squeezed blood orange juice
  • 3 tablespoons bourbon
  • 2-3 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Splash of sparkling water
  • Orange slices & sprigs of mint to garnish

How to Make One

  1. Mix & serve. It really is that simple!

Cookie and Kate's Maple Cinnamon

  • 3 Tablespoons bourbon
  • 2 Tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 to 4 teaspoons maple syrup, to taste
  • Pinch of ground cinnamon, optional

How to make one:

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker or mason jar about two-thirds full with ice. Pour in the bourbon, lemon juice, maple syrup and a pinch of ground cinnamon. Securely fasten the lid and shake well.
  2. Pour fresh ice into your cocktail glass and strain the cold whiskey sour mixture into the glass. Enjoy!

Bill Heck's Old Fashioned

Bill Heck's Old Fashioned

  • 2 sugar cubes
  • 4 dashes of Angostura bitters
  • 1 lemon wheel
  • 1 lime wheel
  • 1 orange wheel
  • 1 maraschino cherry
  • 1/2 teaspoon grenadine
  • 1/4 cup bourbon or rye whiskey
  • Club soda
  • Ginger ale

How to make one:

1. Drop sugar cubes in a rocks glass; sprinkle with bitters and add citrus wheels, cherry, and grenadine.

2. Using a muddler or the handle of a wooden spoon, mash just to release fruit juices and oils.

3. Add bourbon. Fill glass with ice cubes; stir to combine. Top with equal parts club soda and ginger ale.
